Dispatch from Peru: where are the obits?

February 11th, 2011

However, I do miss the “Obituaries” for Marfa.  Maybe I just couldn’t find them.

Please let me know if there are “Obits” or if I missed them.  I looked but they were not obvious.

Thanks for the new look and information.  I am …

Those wild and crazy Texas State Historical Association conventions

February 11th, 2011

In the years since his death, …

The Senate’s …

What does ‘American Exceptionalism’ really mean?

February 11th, 2011

Sometime in the past few months I first heard the term “American Exceptionalism” and immediately dismissed it as another inane phrase spewed out by some right-wing fringe group. When it was used a few weeks ago by a local Tea Party (TP) activist I decided to check it out.

First, what does American Exceptionalism really mean?  Well, …

An education foundation at work

February 8th, 2011

I thought this was a very creative idea to help the Marathon school deal with their financial shortfalls. I know Marfa ISD has its financial difficulties too and was hoping that something like this could be implemented within Marfa. I just wanted to send you the article to make sure you are aware of it …
