Longtime Presidio businessman and civic leader Edmundo Miguel Nieto, 98, of Presidio went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 2, 2017.
Rosary will be at 7pm Friday, July 7 at Santa Teresa de Jesus Catholic Church in Presidio. Funeral Mass will be at 10am Saturday, July 8 at the church with burial in the church cemetery.
Edmundo was born to Miguel and Maria Nieto on March 29, 1919 in Presidio.
He proudly served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945 and received several decorations and medals.
After his departure from the U.S. Army, he married Socorro Herrera in October 1946. They were blessed with four sons.
Edmundo ran the family department store that his father started, M. Nieto Dept. Store, one of the oldest businesses in Presidio.
Those left to cherish his loving and wonderful memories are his sons, Edmundo M. Nieto Jr. of Denver, Colorado, Juan M. Nieto of Austin, Carlos E. Nieto and Mario L. Nieto, both of Presidio; his sisters, Eva Nieto and Delfa Spencer, both of Dallas; also eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Miguel and Maria Nieto; his wife, Socorro H. Nieto; and his sisters, Corina Rohana, Emma Jimenez, and Lucy Nieto.
Memorial Funeral Home of Fort Stockton is in charge of arrangements.
