Sul Ross State University students experience cultural encounter in China
June 8th, 2017 under Education
ALPINE — Three Sul Ross State University students are in China, where they are completing the second half of the university’s Cultural Encounter Program for 2017. Andylyn Heckart (Runaway Bay), Dakoata Tyson (Sweetwater), and Ruoxi Wu (Alpine and China) were paired with Chinese students and are attending classes and school events at Talent International College in Guangxi and the Qinzhou area of China. During their three-week trip they will participate in selected cultural activities and events.
Earlier in the semester, two groups of Chinese students from Talent College visited the Sul Ross campus in Alpine where they participated in local and school events. Both groups visited the area for three weeks.
This summer’s Sul Ross exchange program students are gaining first-hand knowledge about another culture as they prepare for future study or work abroad while building worldwide relationships.
The Sul Ross Cultural Encounter Program was created to promote mutual understanding among students in different countries, increase their knowledge about global challenges, and, if successful, develop future leaders with a global perspective and worldwide connections.
The Cultural Encounter Program is organized by SRSU and Talent International College. The program is open to all Sul Ross students.
