FORT DAVIS, ALPINE – Enjoy the state’s “coolest” Fourth of July celebration in Fort Davis, this Friday through Tuesday.

Events kick off at 1pm Friday with vendors and tasty food venues on the courthouse lawn. At 5pm, get ready for the “Cowboy Hypnotist Show,” and then shine your boots for a grand dance at 8pm featuring Grammy Award-winning artists Max Baca y Los Texmaniacs and Flaco Jimenez!

Saturday starts with a 7:30am veterans’ pancake breakfast, followed by a pie contest at 9am and the Great Parade at 10am.

From 10am-2pm, the Friends of the Library Bookstore are having a sale and the courthouse vendors will sell their wares and food from 10am-6pm.

The Peruvian Horse Show prances downtown at 11am; there’s an open mic stage also at 11am. At noon, the cowboy hypnotist makes another appearance, followed by the Great Gunfight at 1pm and the Case Southerland Band at 2pm.

A watermelon feast is planned for the Overland Trail Museum from 2-4pm. Tumbleweed Smith does a one-man show at 5pm and at 8pm is a terrific dance with Jody Nix and the Texas Cowboys!

Vendors and food sellers are at it again on Sunday, from 10am-3pm, along with an open mic session at 11am, the cowboy hypnotist at noon and, at dark, the county’s best fireworks show at the Jeff Davis County park.

On Tuesday, July 4, runners and walkers take off in the Coolest 5K Fun Run.

Independence Day celebrations last all day in Alpine on Tuesday, July 4.

The festivities begin at noon, with a barbecue at the American Legion, 306 W. Sul Ross Avenue.

Show your independence pride with an entry in the marvelous parade or watch from the streets and wave at all your friends and relations. Line up starts at 4:15pm at Porter’s Thriftway.

At 5pm, booths open at Kokernot Park, along with a car show. The Resonators kick off a live set, followed by a performance by the Alpine Community Band, from 7:30-8:30pm.

The Mystic Gitana bellydancers beguile the crowd at 9:30pm, and then at dark, look skyward for a fireworks display.

All are welcome to enjoy Independence Day in Alpine!

Happy Fourth of July, y’all!
