Sawyer James Covarrubias, 3, of Alpine passed away May 22, 2017 at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, in the loving arms of his parents, Javier Covarrubias and Tanna Beinhauer, following complications from his second heart surgery. His sister, Isabella Laine Beinhauer, and several family members were also by his side.
Sawyer was born in Dallas on September 7, 2013 and lived in Alpine. Even though he was medically fragile, he amazed his family and his doctors with his determination to progress and learn.
He was a happy baby who enjoyed his puppies, trucks, trains, his iPad, and most especially, playtime with his sister and his parents.
He was full of energy and always kept the household busy. He will always be loved and remembered.
Sawyer awaits us in heaven with his paternal grandfather, Richard Covarrubias Sr., who passed away in 1984.
He leaves behind his parents and sister; grandparents, Roy and Kareen Beinhauer, and Rudy and Gloria Gordon; his great-grandmother, Maria Garcia, who resides in Alpine; two uncles, Richard Covarrubias Jr., and Tony Beinhauer; three aunts, Rory Contreras (husband Manny), Alex Chavez (husband John), and Katrina McClelland (husband Tony); also many cousins and close relatives.
Funeral Mass was officiated by Fr. Mike Alcuino on May 31 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine.
Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home of Grand Prairie assisted with arrangements.
