MARFA – New Mexico hunting guide Michael Bryant, who was involved in the Circle Dug Ranch shootout that left another hunting guide and a Florida chiropractor wounded and raised questions regarding an initial eyewitness account that “illegals” were behind the shooting, is set for his second pre-trial hearing at the Presidio County Courthouse on Wednesday, June 14.

Bryant stands accused of deadly conduct in discharging a firearm during the January melee, where he allegedly “discharged a firearm through the passenger side window of a 2014 Majestic RV as the vehicle was in motion,” according to court documents.

Bryant surrendered to police custody on Wednesday, March 1 and has been free on a $10,000 bond.

Walker Daughtery, the hunting guide who was wounded in the shootout, also faces similar charges.

Both men pleaded not guilty to the charges during the April, 2017 docket call.

Also appearing before the 394th State Judicial District Judge Roy Ferguson on Wednesday is Jacalyn L. Hagans, wife of Pedro Gonzales Gutierrez (A.K.A. Pete Hefflin).

Hagans stands accused of hindering the apprehension of Gutierrez, who was discovered to be a fugitive on the lam after fleeing California, where he is wanted for violating his parole and failing to register as a sex offender.

According to Hagans’ indictment, the anti-Trans-Pecos Pipeline protester harbored or concealed Gutierrez, helping him hide his identity.

Hagans was arrested on Wednesday, March 8 after a Presidio County Sheriff’s Office deputy discovered Gutierrez’s true identity in February.

A case involving Eric Bustamante Hernandez, who is charged with a third degree felony count of engaging in organized criminal activity will also be heard by the judge at the docket call.

Hernandez was arrested in April 2016 for allegedly possessing between four and 200 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver the contraband.

Hernandez stands accused of the crime alongside alleged partners Jennifer Nicole Debes, Christi Lynn Uballe, Danny Ray Harris, and Erika Lee Hager.

He is currently being held at United State Penitentiary in Beaumont, Texas.

All persons on the docket are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
