Presidio track athletes compete at state, Baeza wins silver medal

AUSTIN — Oscar Baeza won a silver medal at the state UIL track meet in Austin this past weekend.

Baeza, a Presidio High School senior, placed second in the 200-meter dash on Saturday, May 13, with a time of 21.63 seconds. Baeza is the first Presidio track athlete to win a medal at the state finals.

Baeza also competed in the 100-meter dash at the state finals. He placed fifth with a time of 10.96 seconds.

Jesse Ortiz, also a Presidio High School senior, competed at the state finals in the 3200-meter run. He came in fourth with a time of 9:48.55.

Ortiz also set a record: He is the first Presidio athlete to qualify for the state finals three years in a row.
