Music Director to present tuba recital today at Sul Ross

ALPINE – Jeffrey J. Meyer, Sul Ross State University director of Bands and Brass Studies, will present a faculty recital, titled “Tuba & Friends,” tonight, April 20. The recital will take place in Marshall Auditorium at 7:30 P.M. Admission is free and the public is invited.
The program will feature three works composed for Harvey Philips, known as “the Paganini of the tuba,” written between 1963-64: Duet for Flute and Tuba by Walter S. Hartley, with flutist and Sul Ross director of Instrumental and Woodwind Studies Mary Elizabeth Thompson, Serenade No. 12 for solo tuba by Vincent Persichetti, and Suite No. 1 for horn, tuba, and piano, featuring Carol Wallace, piano, and Sul Ross student Anna Kathryn Holmes, Cotulla, French horn.
