Alpine Candidate Forum April 19

On April 19, citizens will have the opportunity to meet and ask questions of the candidates running for seats on the Alpine City Council and the school board of trustees.

Election is May 6, early voting begins April 24; this forum is a great way for citizens to meet candidates and ask them questions, get a much better feel for their stances on various issues.

Each candidate will have the opportunity to introduce himself or herself and make a three-minute opening statement. After these introductions, you, the voter, will be able to ask them questions. The question and answer period will last one hour. Each candidate will then have the opportunity to give a final closing statement.

John Waters, Publisher of the Big Bend Gazette, will moderate the forum.

Invited candidates are:

Alpine City Council Ward 1 incumbent Nancy Antrim and challengers Angie Bermudez and Maria Curry.

Alpine City Council Ward 5 incumbent Rick Stephens, and challenger Sara Hernandez.

Alpine Independent School District Board of Trustees District 6 incumbent Kenda Belardo and challenger Adrian Billings.

The forum, which is free and open to the public, will be held Wednesday, April 19 from 6:30 to 8 pm at the Alpine Civic Center. Citizens can ask their questions in-person at the forum, or may be submitted in advance via email: publisher@ bigbendgazette.com.
