March 9th, 2017 under Community
FORT DAVIS – The Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center is celebrating spring with its twice-monthly bird-watching walks.
Ralph Reed, volunteer birder who now makes Alpine his home wants to encourage all birders, and those who are interested in learning more about birding, to come for a bird walk.
The hikes are scheduled for March 11 and 25, and April 8 and 22. Meet at the CDRI front gate at 7:45am. Ralph will let you in before regular operating hours, with gates closing at 7:55am. The cost is $3 per person — half the regular admission price; members are free.
You will explore the Upper Loop with a short visit to the Modesta Canyon, the Botanical Garden, the new Bird Blind, and around the Visitor Center, with the hikes lasting 2.5 to 3 hours.
More scheduled dates will follow depending on the popularity of the program.
