Lady Devils sweep Lady Horns in softball Monday

PRESIDIO — The Presidio High School Lady Devils varsity softball team easily defeated the Marfa Lady Horns at a home game Monday morning.

The Devils took an early lead on Monday and never looked back. The girls finished the first inning with six runs and took four more runs in the second inning. After the Lady Devils scored five more runs in the third inning, the game was called early.

The final score was 15-0.

This is the Lady Devil’s second win in league season play.

Jackie Escontrias, number 14, led the Lady Devil’s with three runs batted in (RBI). Nathalie Melendez finished the game with two RBI.

Pitcher Amber Armendariz, number four, struck out seven Marfa batters. Jackie Escontrias also pitched.

Number 11 Josselyn Hernandez had the most hits with three.

The Lady Devils will next take the field on March 21 when they travel to Kermit to face the Kermit High School Lady Jackets. Their current league record is two wins and six losses.
