READ MARFA and the Blackwell School Alliance would like to thank everyone who contributed to a fun and festive Holiday Read Aloud on Saturday. We welcomed children, families, and story-loving adults to enjoy readings of holiday stories in both Spanish and English, sweetened by hot chocolate and lots of cookies.
Much thanks to our readers: Jeremiah Griffin, Adamina Molina-Morlock, Lonn Taylor, David Walstrom, and Kathleen Walstrom. Thank you to our Blackwell School Alliance board of directors for providing refreshments. Thank you to Marfa Public Library, the source of many of the books that were read. And thank you to the children and young-at-heart who attended for adding your Christmas cheer to our party and making it a success.
We would also like to extend a special thank you and holiday wish to all the volunteers and donors who support both of our organizations—and for that matter, to all our community members who step up and help our city in so many ways, large and small. You enrich and inspire us.
During the holiday season we remember what a gift it is to live and work among so many others who deeply love this community, for all of its charms (the Shorthorns!) and all of its challenges (wind storms!) We look forward to 2017 and the opportunity the New Year brings to value each other and work alongside one another to make our community an even better place for everyone who lives here.
