Sully student poetry published in Range magazine

ALPINE – Four Sul Ross State University students can now call themselves professional writers after they each received a check from RANGE Magazine for their poetry.

The magazine published poems by Rob Perry, Alpine; Travis Lutz, Alpine; Liam Baker, Fort Stockton; and Dillon Wolfe, Jewitt.

The poems were part of an article, “Cowboy Haiku,” about a cowboy poetry class taught in Spring 2012 by Dr. Barney Nelson. The article appears in the Summer 2013 edition of RANGE.

Other students quoted, pictured, or mentioned in the article include Karina Vega, Alpine; Bailey Moyers, Alpine;  Daniel Kirwan, Alpine; Lawson Dunagan, Brownfield; Robbie Boyer, Boerne; Jordan Merchant, Lubbock; Charles Sansom, Marathon; and Ryan Stevens, Dryden, N.Y., who also manages the Alpine Cowboys baseball team.
