Community room, courtyard projects moving forward
By RENEE MICK
The capital campaign for the Marfa Public Library Community Room/Courtyard Project is moving forward!
To date there is just under $152,000 in the bank. To satisfy requirements of grant pledges from the Abell-Hanger Foundation and the Permian Basin Foundation we must raise another $63,000 by mid-May. Many generous donations from area residents have come to the library which are most appreciated. If you would like to contribute, or would like information about the project, don’t hesitate to contact the library at 432-729-4631.
The Friends of the Marfa Library are planning a silent auction to raise funds for the project, as well as monthly Book Barn Sales. More to come on those events.
Meanwhile, make it a point to dine at Jett’s Grill on Thursdays. Jett’s has very generously offered to donate 15 percent of their proceeds to the library project! This will happen each Thursday for five weeks, beginning January 24. Thank you Jett’s!
Speaking of the Book Barn, the library always welcomes donations of books, just bring any unwanted books to the library and we’ll make room for them in the Barn!
The library will be closed on Monday, January 21 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Renee Mick is the Marfa Public Library director.
