Todd touts long record in bid
By JOHN DANIEL GARCIA
JEFF DAVIS COUNTY- Teresa Todd, the Democratic challenger to incumbent Bart Medley, believes her experience and record will help her win the race for Jeff Davis County Attorney.
Todd, who received her undergraduate degree in Speech Communication at Texas A&M and received her law degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1991, touts her decade-long record as the Presidio County Attorney from 1994 to 2004.
She currently serves as the attorney for the Cities of Marfa and Valentine, as well as legal council to the Development Corporation of Presidio.
Todd’s number one priority as Jeff Davis County Attorney is to bring the county in compliance with Chapter 60 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, which states that each county should have a 90 percent completion rate in the completion and disposal of reports of criminal cases in the state criminal history system to continue receiving state grants. The county is currently at 48 percent according to Todd.
If elected, Todd says as county attorney she will also be ready and prepared for Commissioners’ Court meetings each month and to advise elected officials on legal issues as requested. She says she will also treat everyone fairly and ethically despite whatever may bring a person to court.
“I believe I have a strong track record of hard work and dedication,” said Todd. “I would like to bring my experience and dedication to work for the people of Jeff Davis County and it would be an honor to serve my friends and neighbors.”
