Dude of the Dead fest this weekend in Presidio
By JOHN DANIEL GARCIA
PRESIDIO – On what may be the busiest weekend in Presidio in quite a long time, the Dude of the Dead music festival kicks off its fourth year coinciding with the first Border Zone International UFO Festival.
The annual gathering, which Texas Monthly called “an event akin to Burning Man that mashes Día de los Muertos rituals with live music,” starts on Friday and runs through Sunday.
This year’s line-up will be a mix of country, folk, and rock. The acts include the Doodlin’ Hogwallops, Jim Keaveny, Skin ‘N Bones, the Anthony Ray Band, The Rocky Top Alien Breeding Experiment, David Shane & the Dusty Ramblers, 7 Year Drought, Pablo Menudo, and LBS.
The event is located at the Presidio Drag Race Track northwest of town. Tickets are $10 per person on the days of the event and children 14 and under get in free. Vendors (including Boyz 2 Men, who will have a busy weekend in the area) will be on site.
UFO abductions will not be the responsibility of the organizers, though the passengers of such crafts are invited to attend.
