Big Bend BP sector to host 9/11 commemorative event
MARFA, ALPINE – The Big Bend Sector of the U.S. Border Patrol will hold a ceremony at the Border Patrol Station in Alpine to commemorate the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
The ceremony will be held at 9am on September 11 in front of the Alpine Station on the grounds of the 9/11 Memorial.
The brief ceremony will include the Big Bend Sector’s Honor Guard presenting the colors, rendering taps and conducting a wreath laying ceremony.

This memorial to the events of September 11, 2001, located on the grounds of the Alpine Border Patrol station will be the location of a brief memorial at 9 a.m., September 11, 2012. The public is invited.
The memorial site includes a twisted beam from the World Trade Center. In August, 2011, Border Patrol agents from the Alpine Station drove to New York City and picked up the beam which was donated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The beam is displayed at a memorial site constructed by off-duty agents and other employees of the Big Bend Sector.
The site was dedicated in a well-attended public ceremony on September 11, 2011.
The Alpine Border Patrol station is located just west of Alpine on Highway 90.
The public is invited.
