BB Regional Medical Center unveils new ICU unit Monday
ALPINE – Big Bend Regional Medical Center will unveil its new two-bed Intensive Care Unit from 10-11am Monday. The public is invited to take a tour and meet the staff, including new Emergency and ICU Director James Cobb, RN.
The ICU is under the medical direction of Dr. Melinda Banister, General Surgeon. Dr. Banister is no stranger to ICU’s as she was the Assistant Medical Director of the Timothy J. Harnar Burn Intensive Care Unit at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas from 2004 – 2009.
Mike Ellis, Chief Executive Officer, of BBRMC says, “One advantage to opening this new unit will be the reduction in transfers that are needed for situations like diabetic monitoring or conditions that require stabilization through ventilation or telemetry.”
He goes on to say, “This expansion of service allows us to further meet the needs of our region and is part of the strategic plan envisioned by our Board of Directors and executive staff.”
Helping to celebrate the event will be the Alpine Ambassadors hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony and the Dietary staff providing light refreshments.
