TAMPA BAY – West Texas and San Antonio congressman Francisco “Quico” Canseco has been selected to speak at the Republican National Convention. The convention is being held in Tampa, Florida from Monday, August 27 through Thursday, August 30.

Rep. Canseco

“It is an honor to have been selected to address the Republican National Convention in Tampa Bay. Our country is at a crossroads and the convention will be a great opportunity to address the American people with a vision for economic growth and job creation,” Canseco said in a press release from his campaign.

The freshman Republican is seeking re-election to one of the most competitive congressional districts in the country.

In another email from the congressman’s campaign announcing his address and asking for donations, Canseco took the opportunity to address his Democratic opponent, state representative Pete Gallego, and sought to tie Gallego to President Barack Obama.

“This will also be a great opportunity to shine a national spotlight on how the policies of Pete Gallego and Barack Obama are failing Texas and our country,” said Canseco.

Canseco will speak on the first day of the convention, Monday, August 27 with a time to be announced later.
