24 Hour Plays call for actors, writers and directors

August 2nd, 2012 under Arts

MARFA – Marfa Live Arts announces the ninth annual 24 Hour Plays on Saturday, August 18 at 8pm, and we need your participation West Texas!

From left, Joe Williams and Anthony DeSimone participate in last year’s 24-Hour Plays.

If you would like to be involved with this year’s plays, as an actor, director, writer or stagehand, please join us at the Crowley Theater at 8pm on Friday, August 17.

The concept is simple: participants write, direct, rehearse and perform six one-act plays within a 24-hour period. It’s fast-paced and fun.

On Friday, August 17, all interested actors, writers and directors will meet at the Crowley Theater. No previous experience is necessary. Participants will be divided into actors, directors and writers, and given the basic outline for the next 24 hours.

Writers will have Friday night to write their 7-10 minute one-act play, which is due Saturday morning. Actors and directors then receive their scripts, and have the day to rehearse their play. When Saturday evening arrives, 24 hours are up and it’s time for the production.

The entire community is invited to attend this free performance on Saturday, August 18 at 7pm at the Crowley Theater in Marfa.
