Hernando Aranda

Hernando “Amando” Aranda, 97, of Presidio and formerly of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico was called to our Lord on Saturday, June 23, 2012.

Mr. Aranda was born October 28, 1914 in Redford to Antonio and Manuela Hinojos Aranda. He was a farmer and also worked in construction in the Permian Basin for many years.  He was a member of Santa Teresa de Jesus Catholic Church and was a longtime Ojinaga and Presidio resident.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed but will remain forever in our hearts.

Survivors include his loving wife, Francisca Sanchez Aranda of Presidio; his daughter, Rosa A. Acuña of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico; three sons, Eladio S. Aranda of Midland, Arnoldo Aranda of Presidio, and Elco Aranda Sr. of Presidio; two sisters, Consuelo Garcia of Minnesota and Eva Nichols of Odessa; two brothers, Alvaro Aranda and Antonio Aranda, both of Odessa; also 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons, Aldo and Hernando Aranda; and his sister, Concepcion A. Villa.

Rosary was Monday, June 25 at Santa Teresa de Jesus Catholic Church in Presidio.  Funeral Mass was Tuesday, June 26 at the church with Father Jose Alfredo Hinojosa officiating. Holy burial was in Desert Hills Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Eladio Aranda, Elco Aranda Sr., Arnoldo Aranda, Eric Aranda, Conrado Aranda, and Elco Aranda Jr.

Memorial Funeral Home of Fort Stockton are in charge of arranmements.
