Marfa Lights Festival on tap for Labor Day weekend
MARFA – The Marfa Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the annual Marfa Lights Festival will take place on Labor Day Weekend, August 31 through September 2nd around the historic Presidio County Courthouse. The festival will begin at 5 PM on Friday when food and craft vendors open their booths for business. The fun continues Saturday morning with a parade down Highland Avenue. On Sunday, the vendors and entertainment will continue from noon until 5 PM.
The Marfa Chamber of Commerce is seeking local crafts people, eateries, entertainers and parade lovers to participate in this year’s festival to make it a true Marfa-style event showcasing Marfa talent. Discounts are available to MARFA-based vendors.
Tee-shirt Design: We are looking for creative tee-shirt ideas for the Marfa Lights Festival through our Tee-Shirt Design Contest. Send submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “design contest” or bring your submission to the Marfa Chamber of Commerce office at 207 N Highland Ave. during office hours (Tue- Sat, 10:30 AM – 5:30 PM). Deadline for submissions is August 1, 2012.
Vendors: 12’x12’ Vendor Booth spaces at this year’s festival are open to retail vendors and artisans selling handcrafted items and food. Additionally, we are very interested in providing more family/child oriented activities. Vendor Applications are available at http://marfacc.com/todo/marfalightsfest.php. The deadline for vendor applications is July 31, 2012.
Entertainment: The festival’s free outdoor entertainment series will begin on Friday night. Throughout the weekend there will be music, dancing and other performances.
