Border Blasters embark on mini-CenTex tour

April 26th, 2012 under Arts

JEFF DAVIS COUNTY – The acoustic duo of Todd Jagger and JR Harrell, known collectively as The Border Blasters, embark on a three-date tour of Central Texas this weekend.

On Friday, Todd, vocals, guitar and mandolin, and JR, vocals, guitar, and keyboard, will perform at the Music in the Park Series in Elgin from 7:30-9pm. They’ll augment their duo with Hotcakes band and fellow former Austin Lounge Lizard Boo Resnick on bass and original Border Blaster Phil Johnson on drums.  The Elgin High School Jazz Band will open the show at 6:30pm.

On Saturday, the Border Blasters go it alone with an acoustic set at the Bar D Brew House in San Saba from 8-10pm.

The duo began their three-date tour on Wednesday at Hondo’s on Main in Fredericksburg at the invitation Kevin Higgins and his weekly “Songwriter Showcase” at Hondo’s.

The Border Blasters latest recording, “The Sun Session,” recorded at the famous Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee – known as the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll because the late-owner Sam Phillips made some of the first recordings of Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis – is available for purchase online at  www.borderblasters.com.
