By ALBERTO TOMAS HALPERN
PRESIDIO – Local entrepreneur Ismael Lara is planning on expanding his convenience store and fuel services.
Lara, who owns the DY convenience store in downtown Presidio, has begun work on a new truck stop and convenience store located on US Highway 67.
The new business, which will be located near La Pasadita Restaurant, will cater to big trucks and recreational vehicles.
“This will be bigger,” Lara said this week, comparing his latest project to his existing convenience store.
Lara said he hopes to hire around 13 full-time employees, local residents if possible.
“I’d like to have people from Presidio,” Lara said of hiring employees to run the day-to-day operations.
Lara will be going before the Development Corporation of Presidio (DCOP) in the near future to ask for some financial assistance.
Lara said he hopes to be open his new truck stop business by the end of this year.
