Presidio County 4-H Club members prepare for San Angelo Stock Show
PRESIDIO COUNTY – Presidio County 4-H Club members have been preparing their market animals and their skills for the upcoming San Angelo Stock Show. Competing in the lamb and goat division are Sesar Baeza of Presidio and Coy Dominguez and Jayden Miranda of Marfa.
Horse Judging teams have been steadily practicing for the upcoming San Angelo Stock Show Horse Judging Competition on Saturday February 18. Presidio County junior and senior teams will join other 4-Hers from around the state at the Spur arena to judge four halter classes along with four performance classes. The senior competitors will then give two sets of reasons to officials.
“Horse Judging teaches reasoning skills, public speaking, and basic knowledge of the horse industry,” said County Extension Agent and Coach Jesse Lea Schneider.
The horse judging teams will also be competing at the district level in April with an opportunity for the senior team to qualify for state competition. Horse Quiz Bowl competition is also on the agenda with district competition in March and an opportunity to qualify for state competition.
Best of luck to all the Presidio County 4-H competitors!
