Jigglewatts bring classic burlesque to Terlingua

February 23rd, 2012 under Arts

AUSTIN, TERLINGUA – The Jigglewatts Burlesque Revue will bring their saucy and humorous brand of classic burlesque to the Starlight Theatre in Terlingua for a one night only engagement on Friday, March 2 at 9pm.

Guests can expect an elegant evening of classic burlesque dance and striptease performed by the ladies of The Jigglewatts and hosted by illustrious comedian Jade Esteban Estrada. Featuring sultry yet classy dance styles, glamorous, over-the-top costumes and a lighthearted appeal, The Jigglewatts are excited to bring their show to west Texas.

Jason Barrett, general manager of the Starlight Theatre, wanted to expose people in the Big Bend area to the resurgence of the art of burlesque, which began its comeback in places like New York and L.A. in the 1990s and has since become a worldwide phenomenon.

The Jigglewatts Burlesque produced their first show in June of 2006. Now going stronger than ever in their sixth year, this exclusive boutique troupe features classically trained dancers, vocalists and actors whose brand of burlesque is upbeat, cheeky, clever, elegant and sexy all at the same time, inviting audiences of both men and women to join in the fun.

With twelve titles collectively, including Hot Rods & Heels “Troupe of the Year,” Texas Burlesque Fest “Audience Choice Award” and “Best Costume,” and New Orleans Burlesque Fest “Queen of Burlesque,” this small but resplendent troupe is the most highly acclaimed in Texas.

Doors open for dinner service at 5pm, ticketing for the 9pm show begins at 8pm. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the door.
