February 9th, 2012 under Community

MARFA – The First Baptist Church in Marfa welcomes new pastor Jay Fuselier.

Fuselier, a native of Southwest Louisiana, is no stranger to this neck of the woods. He and his wife, Jackie, bought property in Jeff Davis County in 1992 and moved to the area in 1999. The Fuseliers have made their home on that property between Fort Davis and Valentine, near Bloys Campmeeting.

Fuselier worked professionally in the insurance industry for 32 years but said that, “Since I was 22-years-old, I was licensed to serve in churches, and I have done it off and on,” adding that he has pastured in several small churches over the years including in Alpine and Fort Davis.

Fuselier was voted to be the new pastor at the First Baptist Church in Marfa, replacing longtime pastor, the late Lloyd Connor. Fuselier began his new job on Wednesday, February 1.

Fuselier said he is excited to take part in the community and see “the church prosper not only as a church but as an integral part of the community.”
