Corkins

Longtime Alpine resident and businessman Bob Corkins, 84, died Monday, January 30, 2012 in a Midland hospital.

Funeral service will be at 9am Saturday, February 4 at The Mormon Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4805 Gateway Street, Midland. Burial will be at 2:30pm Saturday in Elm Grove Cemetery in Alpine.

Corkins, who had moved to Midland in recent years, was a member of the Morrison family, whose business interests included dozens of variety stores stretching from El Paso to Port Aransas. Morrison True Value Hardware in Alpine was a former store in the chain.

He was also a World War II veteran.

Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Neie of Midland, and a son, Greg. His wife, Maxine, preceded him in death.

Memorials in honor of Mr. Corkins may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
