Maria de la Luz Marquez Aguirre, 65, of Odessa and formerly of Presidio, died Monday, January 23, 2012 in Odessa.

She was born November 23, 1946 in Vado de Piedra, Mexico to Ursolo “Bucho” and Emilaina Flores Marquez. She was raised in Presidio and was a member of the Catholic Church. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Alfredo Aguirre; a son, Alfredo Aguirre Jr.; a daughter, Cynthia Aguirre; brothers, Manuel Marquez, Abel Marquez, Adolfo Marquez and Simon Marquez; and sisters Ofelia Carrasco, Irene Cruz, Gracie Sifuentes and Natividad Galindo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Alvaro Marquez; and a sister, Eufemia Alvarado.

Visitation was Tuesday, January 24 and Wednesday, January 25 and the Rosary was said Wednesday at Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels. Mass was celebrated Thursday, January 26 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Fr. Serafin Avenido Jr. officiating. Burial followed at the Los Angeles Garden section of the Ector County Cemetery.
