Dude of the Dead rules near Presidio

November 3rd, 2011 under Features

PRESIDIO – The 4th annual Dude of the Dead Music Festival was held this past weekend at the Presidio Horserace Track, and music played for several hours before sunset and went into the wee hours of the morning, building to a crescendo of sound and fun.

Miles Zuniga, Amy Cook, Suzanna Choffel, David Garza and Jason Blum started out the evening with great energy and musicianship, all to the backdrop of the desert mountains.

As the stars appeared, the Doodlin’ Hogwallops, Topaz & Mudphonic, and Mexicans at Night brought out the hard-driving sounds that shook the ground all the way to Ojinaga, Mexico.

Event organizer Charles Angell offered a big thanks to Tito’s Vodka, Wunder-Pilz Kombucha Tea, Elida and Ricky Garcia, and Ty Mitchell for providing food and drinks.

Extra big thanks to the 150+ people in attendance from as far east as Houston to as far west as Los Angeles, and to the musicians, KRTS radio staff, and artists who helped make it a special night.

Most importantly, Angell said, thanks to the City of Presidio for providing the racetrack as the venue for this to happen.

“We look forward to continuing to build it into a bigger and better event each year, and to those who missed out will have to wait until next year,” he said. In the meantime, the Dude abides!
