Boquillas Border Crossing
A ceremony was held in Big Bend National Park on Monday to announce a bilateral agreement between the United States and Mexico. The Cooperative Action for Conservation in the Big Bend/Rio Bravo Region was signed by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar and Mexican Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Juan Rafael Elvira Quesada as provided by U.S. President Barack Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderon. The agreement calls for increased cooperation between the two countries in preserving the biological diversity in the region. In addition to the cooperative agreement, a ground-breaking ceremony was held for a new border crossing facility near Boquillas Canyon.
